Le Claire I

Le Claire was one of my favorite places too, it is a super charming small town full of life.  We went there a few times and I got to see a lot of it.  On our way there the interesting sights started and of course we had to have a few selfies of the group

It has a lot of interesting stores full of whatever thing you can imagine.  For starters we went to see the American Pickers store, I had no idea of this show but I loved the store anyways!

The “Grasshoppers” is a house that has all it’s rooms filled with any thing you might imagine you want to buy, both old and new, there are some stairs that take you to the winery and they sell everything wine related, even the barn is full of old stuff for sale. Very nice place, I could spend a whole day in there!

We had a great day in Le Claire, we went to have dinner to Davenport and on our way back home we saw some deer on the side of the road!!  I couldn’t belive it, they were there by our side and stood there for 15 minutes without moving at all, seemed like they were posing for my lens!  I was explained by the expert that they thought I couldn’t see them and that was why they stood so still. Mom was behind watching as I took a lof of pictures of this little ones.  I was so excited! like really really excited! The perfect end for another great day in Iowa!

Iowa Wineries

One of my favorite things of Iowa was the wine.  I’ve always been a wine lover and a wine drinker and while my trip to Iowa I had the chance to visit different wineries and  taste very good wine.

My favorite one? Wide River Winery! both the Le Claire one and the Clinton one, not only the places are beautiful but the wines are great and the right company made my visits memorable.

That combo of wine with dark chocolate is my new fave “guilty pleasure”!

Mississippi: the magic of the sunset

I’ve said enough how magical and awesome the Mississippi is but all that is nothing compare to what I have to say about it’s sunsets!  I was lucky enough to go there in the afternoon, float in its waters with my red solo cup and my fave wine, great company and good talk.  The color of the light is out of this world, the sun setting behind the leaves makes them look this unreal color green that shines through the darkness of the trees. Too much to describe, here are some of my favorite images shot during that afternoon and sunset.

Sad…

Wow how can I even start to describe yesterday, it was a very sad day for me.  Just the day before I was posting a beautiful comment Ilse posted me in FB regarding the photos of her beautiful 15 year old girl. The session was for Cas,  but I insisted on having a couple family pictures made too. Of course moms always complain because they are not dressed or with their make up on  but anyways I insisted and made some family photos. The first one we made is beautiful, so much that after shooting it I told them I was so jealous of that family photo, that I wanted one like that for my Christmas cards this year. Little did I knew I was shooting their last family photo…

Yesterday as I was working on that exact picture I received a call from a mutual friend letting me know that Ilse passed in an accident yesterday morning. I am so in shock, I had that photo open in my screen as I listened to those words…

My heart is broken today, I can’t stop thinking about her hubby and her 3 beautiful princesses…

“Martha Bravo,  I want to thank you for making Cas’s day perfect! even though the high temperatures, all the sun we got, all the walking and the delays of the day it was a wonderful one. Thanks for giving her the best present a teen can get: SELF CONFIDENCE, because no matter what others see or say, only your photos gave it  to her. Thanks!  Now I really lost my baby but I received a beautiful young woman. May God keep on blessing your eyes and your soul so you can keep transmitting so much with your photos.  I am eternally grateful”
